Happy Sunday, IPA Families!

We hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! We want to provide a few updates about important things happening on our campus.

Monday Early Out:

Monday, November 6, 2023 is an early out day. All students will be dismissed 2 hours early at 12:35. Tell your students they wont want to miss tomorrow since we are having our Caminata celebration and it will be their opportunity to watch the administrators get pied in the face!

IPA State Designation:

We are excited to share that IPA is a commendable school as designated on this year's state report card. We saw lots of great gains in our achievement data this year and want to continue growing our students. One of the largest celebrations in our data is the student attainment on the Illinois Science Assessment. Great job to last year's fifth and eighth graders for their hard work on this multi-day assessment!

Improving Attendance:

Our attendance data reported on the state report card is at all time low for IPA. We have gone from having a chronic absentee rate of 7.3% in 2018 to 38.4% in 2023. A student who is chroncially absent has 9 or more excused or unexcused absences in one school year. This data is also one of the main reasons we missed earning an exemplary school rating from the state on this years Illinois School Report Card. We would like your help to improve our attendance rates at IPA.

Please remember that it is critcally important for your students to be in school every day. We do understand that students can be sick and sometimes need to miss school. We also understand that we are still navigating some bus shortages in the district. However, our attendance data goes beyone the bus issues. Please remember that every day counts for your student. Each day they miss, there is critical information that they need to make up and learn. This can add undue stress to our studnets' learning experience and create barriers to their learning. We appreciate your help and support in having your student in school each day and avoiding missing days for non-school related activities (day trips, vacations, family errands, etc.).

Sol y Canto Coming to IPA:

Our K-5 students will be treated to an assembly on Wednesday, November 8 with performances by Soly y Canto. Sol y Canto’s mission is to create music and performances that move, delight, excite and connect – connect the audience to the richness of Latin American culture; connect individuals, Hispanic and non-Hispanic, to each other through shared experience of music, poetry, humor and a joyful, playful vibe; and connect us all to our hopes and visions of a better world.

Thanksgiving Break:

There will be no school Wednesday, November 22 through Friday November 24 in observance of Thanksgiving. Please help ensure students are in school on Monday and Tuesday.

Have a great upcoming week!
